GO VA Region 5 Council Elects New Members

Norfolk, Virginia — The GO VA Region 5 Council is pleased to announce the election of the
following new members, effective July 1, 2024.

Mr. Steve Cook, Chief Innovation Officer, Hampton Roads Workforce Council
Mr. Mark Perryman, President & CEO, Norfolk Airport Authority
Ms. Monique Adams, Former Executive Director, 757 Angels

“We look forward to working with Mr. Cook, Mr. Perryman, and Ms. Adams as they join the GO VA Region 5 Council,” said Thomas Frantz, Chair. “Each of these regional leaders brings energy, perspective, and advocacy for GO VA initiatives, both in Region 5 and in the Commonwealth of Virginia.” GO (Growth & Opportunity) Virginia is a regionally driven economic development initiative that encourages collaboration among local governments, higher education, private industry, and workforce by incentivizing projects that promotes the growth of traded industry clusters.

The nine GO VA Regional Councils identify economic opportunities, needs, and challenges, and prioritize them for regional collaboration. These priorities are outlined in an economic growth and diversification plan. Regional Councils are also responsible for soliciting, reviewing, and recommending regional projects to the GO Virginia State Board for funding that align with these priorities.

GO Virginia Region 5 is comprised of 16 cities and counties located in Hampton Roads and Virginia’s Eastern Shore. The Region 5 Council is representative of 28 diverse business and community leaders lead by Chairman Tom Frantz and Vice Chair Lynn Taylor.

About the Hampton Roads Executive Roundtable
The Hampton Roads Executive Roundtable, also referred to as “The Roundtable,” serves as the Support Organization for the GO VA Region 5 Council. It was established in 2023 by combining the Hampton Roads Business Roundtable and Reinvent Hampton Roads to better align and coordinate economic development strategy, advocacy, and initiatives for the region. The Roundtable represents the Hampton Roads region, aligning with GO VA Region 5. The Roundtable is focused on improving the region’s trajectory of economic growth and competitiveness – through creation of more and higher paying jobs, incorporation of innovation and entrepreneurship into the economic base, establishing and monitoring economic development and innovation strategy in an equitable manner, and strategic leadership through collaboration among economic development partners.
